FOR MORE THAN 12 years I have been working with words in one way or another. First I did German-to-English translating in grad school. As I transitioned from the path toward becoming a professor to that of writer/editor, my first assignment was writing a report for the newsletter at the University of Pennsylvania, where I did my graduate studies. IN THE LAST DECADE, I have had titles including Assistant Editor, Associate Editor, Senior Editor, Copyeditor and Senior Copyeditor. I have had the privilege to ply my editing craft for top companies and institutions such as Borders, Discovery Channel, the University of Michigan, and Comedy Central.
I currently am in charge of the Editorial Services department at a mid-sized marketing/advertising agency in Washington, D.C., with numerous blue-chip clients. For each of these clients (pharmaceutical, nonprofit, media, financial) I compile, maintain, and apply an editorial style guide.
